ALL ARE WELCOME...
Founded in 1860, Messiah Lutheran Church located in the heart of downtown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, invites ALL to be fed and welcomed at the weekly table of word and sacrament in worship. We welcome ALL who are seeking God’s love and grace. We welcome ALL because God welcomes all, regardless of race or culture, sexual orientation, gender identity, or relationship status. We welcome ALL without regard to addictions, physical or mental health, imprisonment, socio-economic circumstances or anything that too often divides us. In extending this welcome that is rooted in Christ’s welcoming of us, we are a “Reconciling in Christ” congregation, a network of congregations and churches for full inclusion.
As a member of the Lower Susquehanna Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Messiah, lives by the ELCA motto of God’s Work, Our Hands. Our mission is to make real the life and love of our Lord Jesus Christ to the community we serve by being faithful witnesses to God’s word and by welcoming all who share this vision. One example of our mission and ministry is the Ecumenical Food Pantry that operates out of Messiah. Founded in 1972 after Hurricane Agnes as a “temporary” relief effort, the Pantry, staffed by an all-volunteer team from over 50 churches in the Harrisburg area, serves over 2000 people every month.
Come and join us...ALL are Welcome!
